THIRTEEN+A FEW DECADES

I know while the first birthday he shared with Trevor was cool, I am sure he gets the shaft a bit. So lest he be over looked, we need to pay homage to the other boy born on 8/8.
Forty-three things you may or may not know about Timm... That's a lot of things...
  1. Timm has several careers currently.  He is a civil engineer, a Science/Math teacher, and  basketball coach.
  2. Timm played the piano, clarinet, and I forget the other instrument growing up.  When I met him, he could still play the piano pretty well but he hasn't touched it for years now
  3. He was a bit of a "player" in high school and college.  He met my sister Angie, by going door to door at their apartment complex in St. George, as the "welcoming committee" for new incoming freshman. (yea right!)  After being told he was a little old for them, she introduced him to me.
  4. Timm HATES to have his picture taken. He seriously will be ticked that I added all these pictures. I keep telling him, in the future, your progeny's will not have any idea what you look like. But he isn't interested in that right now.
  5. Timm played Baseball, basketball and football in high school.  His grandma Gann always said he should have gone on to play football in college, but instead, he played a little basketball, and quite a bit of baseball.
  6. This is only the 2nd formal family picture we had taken.  We had been married for 15 years.
  7. Since moving to AZ in 2000, Timm has been an assistant women's basketball coach at Pima Community College, Glendale Community College, Grand Canyon University, & Boulder Creek high school.  He helped at ASU in a non-coaching capacity.  He coached several AAU teams and He is currently the head coach for the McClintock High school Chargers.
  8.  Timm was adopted into his wonderful family when he was 13 months old.  When his mom first met him, he was spinning half of a plastic Easter egg on his little finger.  She was the only person he would go to who he would not cry with.   He has one brother, Jeff, who is 13 years younger than him.
  9. Even though Jeff and Timm are both adopted, they fell in the Dixon family's "male-heavy" pattern.  Out of all of the Dora Dixon grand kids, there were only 4 girls - all the rest boys.  (A pattern we continued propagate in our family.)
  10. Timm went back east to work with the Point Guard College Basketball camp programs in the summer of 2010.  Over the 2 months, he got so severely dehydrated that he looked like this when he got home.
  11. Oh what a difference a year makes.
  12. I still think he was cute.  Although people looked at me like a spouse-beater when we went out together during that time.
  13. Timm has 5 biologic siblings (or half siblings).  2 brothers and 3 sisters.   There are lots of nieces and nephews.  Several look very much like Timm
  14. I bribed Timm and the boys to take this picture for our Christmas card last year.  In exchange for seriously 20 minutes worth of pictures (tops), I had to fore go stake conference and let them stay home and play video games for the day.  When he rallies the troops, I am very out numbered.
  15. Timm is a very good cook.  He can make great Chinese food.  Good Italian pasta and really good pork.  He doesn't do it super often (mainly because it's pricey - he doesn't use cheap ingredient.)
  16. He will tell people he doesn't like pizza, but he often says, "Pizza sounds really good.  Let's order it for dinner" and he never bypasses pizza when we have it at our house.
  17. He loves sushi - the weirder the better.
  18. He is not much for outdoor stuff like hiking, camping, etc.
  19. He LOVES technology and thinks he needs the latest gadgets.
  20. He can spend hours "nerding it up" playing Second Life, World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, etc.
  21. Timm has a Master's of education degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University
  22. Timm has a Bachelor's of Science degree in environmental engineering.
  23. Timm has an Associates degree from Snow College
  24. Timm is a licenced Civil Engineer (and worked very very hard to pass the licensing test.)
  25. He worked as a phlebotomist through college (and drew Traci's blood after she had her first blood clot.)
  26. The boys get their sleeping-in ability from Timm.  He can sleep through anything.
  27. He loves to have a nice car.
  28. He has owned two late 60's model mustangs - one in high school and one when we lived in Oro Valley.
  29. He drove a new convertible mustang in 2001.  It was sweet.
  30. His "mid-life crisis car" is a shiny deep red Camaro with "KOACHD" (Coach D) ASU vanity plates.
  31. He said it doesn't bother him that people will think his Camaro is a mid-life crisis indicator.  He said, "who cares?  I'm still driving my Camaro".
  32. He loves historic movies and TV shows.  JFK, John Adams, the Apollo space program, etc.
  33. He is also a fan of WWI and WWII information
  34. He has gotten much more "hands-on" in the past few years; changing oil, attempting to fix sprinklers - it's amazing what talents financial constraints will uncover.
  35. Timm's main job around our house is laundry.
  36. Timm hasn't done is main job around our house in a VERY long time.
  37. Timm grew up in Rose Park, Utah, a suburb of SLC.  In his lifetime, he has lived in North Carolina, Utah, Rhode Island/Connecticut, Texas, New York, Nevada and Arizona.
  38. Timm loves all kinds of music.  I had never seen anyone with as many CDs when I met him.  His tastes are very eclectic.  But he doesn't like screamo (sorry Tay)
  39. Timm served a mission for the LDS Church.  He was called to Argentina.  He got a bug and was sent home.  Then he was sent to Hartford, CT/Providence, RI - Spanish speaking.  He tore his rotator cuff and was sent back to SLC for rehab/physical therapy.  He did the "Christ in the Americas" tour at temple square during this team.  He finished his mission in San Antonio, TX - Spanish Speaking.
  40. Timm is silly and fun to be around.
  41. Timm likely has impaired hearing from the extreme volume at which he listens to music and TV.
  42. Timm is a very good sport about sharing (and sometimes, handing over) his birthday with Trevor.
  43. We love Timm very much and are blessed to have him as the leader of our family.
