It's what you come to expect from a family of 3 boys (plus a big boy). But it's always fun and often non-stop.
This weekend started out with the Big Boy's game. BCHS Lady Jags defeated Mountain Ridge on Friday night in a nailbiter. This put them in 15th place in the state (16th is required to be included in the state tournament) So happiness abounded!
Saturday morning Trevor's scout group was doing a service project, clearing out weeds at the Ben Avery shooting range. They left around 8am. I picked him up early (at 9:30) and took him to baseball try-outs. Seriously, through 3 boys facing baseball try-outs for pretty much the last 9 years, this was by far the smoothest organized try-outs. They assigned try-out times by age and by alphabet. Trevor attended the 11 yr olds, last name A-M at 10:30. We got there just after 10 cuz last time we were 76th in line when we showed up on time. This time, Trevor was third. They started right at 10:30, if not a little before. We were out of there and on to Tanner's lacrosse game by 10:40. Trevor did great. Not sure that 3 pitches, one run to second base, three grounders and three pop-flies tells them everything they need to know, but I guess it gives them a glimpse and it doesn't keep us there all day, so that is nice.
Tanner, or Diesel as he is known on the field did great. He is getting more aggressive. He loves to knock the other team on their butts. The Predators got handed a 14-2 loss, but on the plus side, we provided dinner to the other team in gratitude for the butt kicking they had just given us (I am embarrassed to say this, but our coaches boast that our team is known for their after game picnics!) Whatever! Tanner is happy and lovin' the game, and if it helps to have me bring a dozen hamburger patties to put out a gracious spread, I guess Iam happy to do it.
Sunday, we went to church and then commenced on our SuperBowl Super pigout . We ate so much that Timm and I fell asleep through most of the 1st half (him on the couch, me on the floor). We woke up about half way through The Who's performance.
All and all, a good weekend. Tonight Tanner has another game (a make up game that got rained out a few weeks back.) Unfortunately, I am headed back to Chicago tonight and will miss it. This is supposed to be a quick trip, in late tonight, back tomorrow night. But they are expecting a snow storm....So we will see how this all turns out. :)
